This work architectural art from Danish architects from the BIG company deserves close attention. Building construction in the form of a # sign (hashtag)

The tower form is a three-dimensional design of interconnected horizontal and vertical towers. Three bridges connect two thin towers at different levels - one underground, and two bridges above the surface. Serving the needs and desires of various categories of residents, age groups and cultures, landscape bridges are equipped to host various events traditionally limited to public viewing. The resulting forms form a new silhouette in the appearance of Seoul. The "#" tower serves as the gateway to the new Yongsan business district, signaling a radical departure from the drab old skyscrapers, and refers to the concept of a new urban community that fills cities in three-dimensional space.

Introducing the Elephant Building in Bangkok, Thailand. The building was designed by Samet Jamsay and completed in 1997.

This building is an unusual design solution from the company PLOT, which later split into two companies BIG (Bjarke Ingels Group) and JDS (Julien De Smedt). The project proposed a building for hotels, sports and conference centers for the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai. The building was designed as two merging buildings. The first building rises from the water and includes a sports and water cultural centers. The second building emerging from the ground is dedicated to education and houses a conference center and meeting rooms. The two buildings, after merging, smoothly transform into a hotel with 1,000 rooms. The building looks like Chinese character, which has the meaning "People", and the building became a recognizable landmark for the World's Fair in China.

This building belongs Naval forces USA and is located in Coronado. The building received the swastika shape unintentionally. However, after public outcry over the unacceptable shape of the building, the US Navy will spend $600,000 to rebuild the building.

The wing-shaped Zayed National Museum building was designed by Foster + Partners. It is located on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and is the first museum built on the island to showcase the history, culture and socio-economic transformation of the Emirates.

The museum includes five wing-shaped towers rising above the man-made landscape where the galleries are located. The towers act like heat pipes and are designed to cool air flow throughout the museum without wasting electricity. Fresh air passes through underground cooling pipes and then enters the museum. The towers are heated from above, the air is drawn vertically through the galleries due to the thermal effect, and comes out of the ventilation openings.

The Dancing House is an architectural masterpiece in the center of Prague. It got its name because of its shape. The original title was Fred and Ginger (after Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers), as she resembles a pair of dancers. It was designed in 1992 by Croatian-Czech architect Vlad Milunić and completed in 1996.

COR Building (Miami, Florida)

A new high-rise building is about to rise in Miami's design district, and the building ticks all the green boxes. The collaboration between Chad Oppenheimer (architecture + design), Bureau Happold (energy conservation consultant), and civil engineer Israel Shainuk will cost $40 million to bring the 25-story COR skyscraper to life. The building will include mixed-use residential and commercial properties, integrating green technologies including wind turbines, photovoltaic panels and solar hot water heating. The building's exoskeleton is a super-efficient structure that provides insulation, shade for occupants, and architectural elements such as terraces and fixtures to support the wind turbine.

With the goal of attracting creative and project-oriented businesses and professionals, the building's interior features both commercial and comfortable residential spaces ranging from $400,000 to $2 million per apartment or office. Each housing unit will include Energy Star appliances, recycled tiles, glass and bamboo in hallways. In total, the building will have up to 113 residential apartments, 20,100 square meters office space, and 5,400 square meters of retail space (which already includes a cafe and a furniture store).

It would seem that the radical idea of building a skyscraper out of wood is not so strange after architect Michael Green pointed out two main advantages that wood has over concrete and steel - it is environmentally friendly and cost-effective.

"Tallwood" will be built from large "laminated lumber panels" - composite panels made from glued strands of wood. Trees are a renewable resource and help reduce air pollution. Sourcing wood from managed forests can be considered more environmentally friendly, CNN reports.

Unlike concrete, which produces about 6 - 9 kg carbon dioxide per 10 kg of its own weight - the tree sucks carbon from the atmosphere. And contrary to popular belief, wood is actually quite fire resistant.

The Aldar building is the company's headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The design of architects from the MZ company was brought to life in 2010. This is the first coin-shaped skyscraper in the world.

Our city keeps many legends and secrets, which we, its indigenous residents, sometimes have no idea about. , mysterious, original and strange buildings, the origin of which historians still argue about, is only a small part of what can surprise Nizhny Novgorod. And today I will tell you about one interesting structure, the features of which can only be understood from a bird’s eye view.

The unusual building of a completely ordinary city clinic No. 37 is located in the very center of the Avtozavodsky district. In appearance, this two-story building is inconspicuous: a yellow facade, plastic windows and four modest columns on the porch at the main entrance. But if you look at it from above, you will notice that the building was built in the shape of a swastika.

Clinic No. 37

According to the first legend, the structure was erected by captives during the Great Patriotic War by the Germans. And it was they who encrypted their Nazi symbol there. The second version is more plausible and most of those who are at least slightly familiar with the history of the Automobile Plant are inclined towards it.

The clinic was built in the thirties of the last century by German engineers, with whom the city was friends and collaborated. And according to their insidious plan, the building in the shape of a swastika was supposed to be a target designator for bombing during the upcoming war.

Later, part of one of the wings of the building was demolished. People did not want to have any reminders of past events and everything connected with the Nazis.

By the way, there are buildings in the shape of a swastika in other countries of the world. One of these is located at a US naval base in California.

Amphibious Naval Station Coronado in California, USA

One of the buildings at the base, located near San Diego, was built in the late 60s according to the design of local architect John Mock. It was intended as barracks for naval construction battalions and has nothing to do with the Germans. However, air corridors above the base are now closed to prevent airplane passengers from accidentally seeing the architectural swastika. The Navy also contributed $600,000 to camouflage the barracks complex with trees, rocks and solar panels to visually enclose the swastika's arms into a square.

Tony Perry

Coronado, California. The US Navy intends to spend $600,000 on landscaping and architectural changes to one of its barracks to hide the fact that from the air it looks like a swastika.

The four L-shaped buildings, built in the late 1960s, are part of the Coronado Airborne Base and serve as barracks for the Sea Bees (Naval Construction Battalions).

When viewed from the ground, as well as from neighboring buildings, this offensive form is not noticeable. And not a single air corridor passes over the base so that passengers of any landing plane could see the swastika.

But since everyone began actively looking at satellite images using Google Earth, comments have appeared on blogs and websites on the Internet about how much the base buildings resemble a Nazi symbol.

Last year, when a Missouri radio talk show host called Navy officials, they made it clear that they were not going to change anything.

But earlier this year, Anti-Defamation League San Diego regional director Morris Casuto and California Rep. Susan Davis, a Democrat, took up the cause.

As a result of this fiscal year, which began last Monday, the Navy leadership budgeted about $600 thousand to make changes to the layout of paths that “mask” the landscape layout and the installation of photocells on the roof.

The purpose of this is to disguise the shape. "We don't want to be associated with a symbol as disgusting as the swastika," said Scott Sutherland, deputy chief of public affairs for the Southwest Naval District, which is also responsible for the maintenance of buildings at bases in the district. .

It wasn't until the groundbreaking in 1967 that the buildings, designed by local architect John Mock, would feature a swastika layout, was noticed, Navy officials said. And since this could not be seen from the ground, it was decided not to make any changes.

It is unclear who was the first to spot the shape of the barracks via Google Earth. But one of the earliest and most persistent advocates for changes to the building design was Dave von Kleist, host of The Power Hour talk show on a Missouri radio station and the website www.thepowerhour.com.

In the spring of 2006, he began bombarding military leadership with letters, including then-US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, calling on them to take action.

In August of that year, he received a response from the Coronado base, which did not promise any action on its part and stated that "the Navy intends to continue to use these buildings as long as they meet the needs of the base."

In December, the Jewish Times, then published in San Diego (now out of print), wrote about the story of these buildings and the reaction it caused. Soon Kasuto and Davis got involved.

Kasuto contacted the chief of staff of the commander of the Southwestern District, Rear Admiral Len Hering. The regional director of the Anti-Defamation League said several members of the Jewish community had contacted him with complaints.

"I don't attribute any malice to this," Kasuto said, referring to the shape of the building. "It just happened. The Navy was very good in admitting there was a problem. The issue is resolved."

Davis, who is Jewish herself, is also pleased with the Navy leadership's decision.

While discussing a number of other issues with Navy officials, Davis mentioned those buildings at the Coronado base and suggested installing photovoltaic cells on the roof, which could change the appearance of the barracks from above. Military base Coronado gets 3% of its energy needs from solar panels and has long been looking to increase that amount.

With the advent of Google Earth, viewing satellite images of the Earth has become a great way to kill time. At the same time, you come across interesting and strange things like a source shimmering with all the colors of the rainbow, a very excited giant, or a lake on an island within a lake on an island. The Telegraph published a selection of such finds.

Ayers Rock, Australia

It's not just a big red rock. This is Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock, one of Australia's top attractions. She was compared to a huge rusty ship that rises above the desert landscape. As with the ships, most of the rock is hidden below the surface: Uluru goes at least six kilometers underground. The visible part of the rock resembles a sleeping monster, ready at any moment to rise on its giant legs and go beyond the horizon.
