Zhang Han (died 205 BC) - General of the Qin dynasty. He led operations to suppress the uprisings that arose during the reign of Emperor Ershi Huang, and repeatedly destroyed rebel groups. In 207, he was defeated in a battle against the army of the Chu Dynasty led by Xiang Yu at the Battle of Juilu. Fearing the emperor, he surrendered to Xiang Yu along with 200,000 soldiers. This event predetermined the defeat of the Qin and the subsequent liquidation of the dynasty. from Xiang Yu he received the title of Yong-wang (雍王) and land in the Guanzhong region, in accordance with the administrative structure of the 18 kingdoms established by Xian Yu. Liu Bang later took over its territory, and he committed suicide a year later in the besieged city.

Biography

In 209 BC. e. the rebel Zhou Wen led his troops directly to the capital city of Xianyang. Emperor Ershi Huang got scared, and summoned those close to him to take action against the rebels. Zhang Han, who was the head of the tax department, offered to amnesty a number of prisoners who worked on the construction of Qin Shi Huang's mausoleum and to strengthen the army to punish the rebels. The emperor approved the plan and announced a large amnesty, and Zhang Han became the head of the army. Zhou Wen was defeated by Zhang Han's army and killed.

After a successful operation, Zhang Han headed east and defeated Chen She's rebel army. then headed against the rebels of the Wei kingdom and also defeated Wei and Qi. Despite the victories, the uprising flared up even more.

Then Zhang Han lost the battle to Xiang Liang's army, who came to the aid of Tian Rong from the Qi kingdom.

However, on a campaign to the east, Zhang Hanyu was victorious at the Battle of Dingtao, and Xiang Liang was killed.

In 207 BC. e. Zhang Han attacked the rebellious kingdom of Zhao and surrounded Juilu (now Juilu County, Xingtai District, Hebei Province). Zhao Wang turned to Chu Huai-wan for help. Xiang Yu went to Zhao to help, and the Battle of Juilu took place, in which the Qing troops were defeated, and the Qin general Wang Li was killed. Zhang Han sent Sima Xin to the capital to call for reinforcements, but Zhao Gao did not let him in to the emperor, and he was refused. Sima Xin barely escaped the pursuit and reported to Zhang Hanyu that Zhao Gao had usurped power in the country.

After Sima Xin's report, Zhang realized that he had no choice - either he would die in a battle against Chu, or he would be killed at the court of Zhao Gao on false slander or slander. Then Zhang Han decided to surrender to Xiang Yu with two hundred thousand troops, sending a messenger to him to conduct secret negotiations. Soon they arranged a meeting, and Zhang Han greeted Xian Yu for Zhao Gao. This episode practically broke the war in Chu's polhu.

In 206 BC. BC, when the Qin empire fell, Xiang Yu divided China into 18 kingdoms. The Guanzhong area near the capital was divided into three plots. There was a trick in this division. It was impossible not to give Liu Bane the Guanzhong region, as it was promised by Huaf-wan even before the start of the assault. Therefore, he got the most distant territory, and the other two were received by Zhang Han and Sima Xin (with the title of Sai-wan). The calculation was to weaken Liu Bang, who had to come into conflict with the former Qin generals.

Biography

After a successful operation, Zhang Han headed east and defeated Chen She's rebel army. then headed against the rebels of the Wei kingdom and also defeated Wei and Qi. Despite the victories won by the Qing people, the uprising flared up even more.

Then Zhang Han lost the battle to Xiang Liang's army, who came to the aid of Tian Rong from the Qi kingdom.

However, in a campaign to the east, Zhang Hanyu managed to win the Battle of Dingtao, where Xiang Liang was killed.

In 207 BC. Zhang Han sent Sima Xin to the capital to call for reinforcements, but Zhao Gao did not allow him to see the emperor, and he was refused. Sima Xin barely escaped from the pursuit, and reported to Zhang Hanyu that Zhao Gao had usurped power in Qin.

After Sima Xin's report, Zhang realized that he had no choice - either he would die in the battle against Chu, or he would be killed at the court of Zhao Gao on false slander or slander, as many Qin generals and nobles had already been killed. Then Zhang Han decided to surrender to Xiang Yu with two hundred thousand troops, sending a messenger to him to conduct secret negotiations. Soon, they arranged a meeting, and Zhang Han complained to Xian Yu about Zhao Gao. This episode practically turned the war in Chu's favor.

Xiang Yu conferred the title of Yong-wang (雍王) on Zhang Hanyu, assigning him the possession of a fertile territory near the capital of Xianyang. After overhearing conversations among the soldiers of the surrendered Qin army through spies, Xiang Yu came to the conclusion that it was unreliable and could turn against him. He separated Zhang Han, Sima Xin and several generals from his army, giving them titles, and suddenly surrounded and killed 200 thousand Qin soldiers who were left without command.

China's most popular actor Zhang Han ("From Ship to Ball") and the queen of viewership ratings, Zhao Ri Ying ("Woman Prime Minister"), starred in the drama "Time to Eat, Shan Shan", which won the support of viewers of different generations. The drama won first prize as "No.1 Romantic Comedy" in China, where there are over 100 channels, in the most popular time slot. "Time to Eat, Shan Shan" is finally coming to DVD in Japan on June 3!
Today we present to your attention an interview with Zhang Han, who plays a cold at first sight, but gentle at heart, an active offspring of a wealthy and influential family.

Tell us what prompted you to do this drama?
The drama is based on a famous internet novel in China that portrays a woman’s dream of an impeccable and autocratic CEO. I sensed moments in the style and structure of the narrative that had not been found anywhere else, and therefore wanted to challenge this work.

Time to Eat Shan Shan was created by the same production team as From Ship to Ball. Did you have a feeling that something was different this time?
Indeed, the same writing team worked on these dramas. All their work is very convincing. This is a team of screenwriters from Taiwan, but they have many years of experience in China, and over the years they have been able to grasp the state of affairs very well here and the script was full of heartfelt understanding. In fact, Chinese youth also seemed to have similar experiences. Especially among girls and boys working in offices.

Just like in the drama From Ship to Ball, you play a young man from a wealthy family. When you created Feng Teng, did you use any pieces, how did you prepare for this role?
When I got the offer to play this role, it seems like many fans of the original piece thought that I didn't fit this character. And so I thought about how I could get inside this role. The main character was born into a family of multimillionaires, and this sets him apart from ordinary rich people. He lost his parents when he was still a child and then inherited the family business. Since he has a younger sister, it is natural that he became the head of the family. In addition, he is not just a wealthy person endowed with prudence: he also leads a very sane lifestyle. He does not scatter money left and right, and does not behave as he pleases. His responsible lifestyle is combined with health care. This has had a profound effect on myself. The main character, when he is not at work, goes fishing, plays basketball. However, he does not drink alcohol. He does not go to bars or nightclubs, and is truly a decent young man.

What caused the greatest difficulty in playing this role? For example, there was probably a feeling of pressure from readers regarding the image of the role, or there were people who felt inconsistency with the original work. What was the hardest part of shooting in these conditions?
I think it was getting closer to the role. Due to the fact that the main character is a multimillionaire, although he has money, he also has to cope with enormous pressure. So when faced with creating this role, I studied the stories of rich people, putting my imagination to work. This was the most difficult moment. After I accepted the offer, the readers' doubts about the casting did not bother me.

Did your feelings change after you actually started playing? For example, from the middle of the drama, did you want to get closer to the role image that the readers of the novel cherished in the last part?
No, there was nothing like it. To be honest, Feng Teng's character was too flawless for readers, like a deity. His fans called him “Great God Feng,” and he was almost like a god to them. Therefore, in order to break out of Feng Teng's too tight framework, I had no choice but to add my own style. I was allowed to read the script three whole times, after which I was able to create my own "Feng Teng" and wanted to play him.

This was your first time shooting together with actress Zhao Ri Ying who played the role of Shan Shan. Did you first work together as partners and then start filming, or did you start to trust each other only in the process?
At the time of reading the script, we were not yet familiar. Since I was involved in other projects before filming, I could only get acquainted with a brief information about her. At the stage when I read the script, before starting to create a role, I need to create an idea of \u200b\u200bthis role. If this works, then you can read the script while remembering the face of your partner on the set. If I can see her as Shan Shan, then I can naturally empathize. That was the feeling.

In other words, both of you started filming without much difficulty. Tell me, Zhao Ri Ying, what kind of person is she?
Since we had no joint work experience before, I didn't know much about her. On the first day of filming, it coincided with the Shan Shan image that I developed. She was graceful and short, ate a lot, and her face was perfectly round. Exactly the same as my idea of \u200b\u200bher role. At the time, there were people on the filming team who thought her face was too round and encouraged her to go on a diet. But I opposed it. Said that if she plays Shan Shan, then she must be a girl who eats a lot.

Tell us about any incidents that happened during the filming?
She really liked the food that took part in the filming. Just like Shan Shan from the drama, she is a big food lover. There were many scenes in which the main characters were together, but she started eating even before filming was signaled, and it looked like she was really really hungry (laughs). Since my parents sometimes came to the shooting, my mother always brought some gifts. And every time there was also a portion of lunch for Ri In.

It looks like you have a good relationship. In addition, your name is "The Eating Couple" and you often appear on television together. You were not familiar before, but after meeting, did you begin to consult with each other about the performance?
Of course, we definitely consult. At first, before we knew each other well, we played separately. But thinking that mutual understanding is important for us, I began to consult with her. The script was initially good, but once I tried to add funny notes, I wanted to add even more of them. The couple we are playing requires interaction that only two can do at once. For example, their habits when they are together. Joe Chen and I also came up with different tricks during the "From Ship to Ball" era. For example, during a spat, she pretends to call on the phone. And thus calms me down. It was a conversation without words. I pretend to pick up the phone, and all the grudges subside. This is their common way of getting rid of their embarrassment after an argument. In this drama, pinching Shan Shan's face, I emphasize how cute the cheeks are.

Among the many nicknames that you are called, there are "Couple who love to eat", "Couple from the lake" and many others. Do you like any of these looks?
I love Eating Couple. A lot of my friends told me, "When you watch this drama, you unconsciously want to eat your liver." I’m glad we were able to help everyone develop an appetite.

Shan Shan Feng Teng is very kind and does a lot for her. In reality, how do you show your affection for a girl? Or, by what behavior do you manifest it? Was there any experience in your life when you managed to touch a girl?
I prefer not to do some deliberate things. I believe that a couple's feelings are something that arises day after day. Feng Teng says this to Shan Shan: "What matters is not what they say, but what they do." Feng Teng is not very good at showing his feelings in conversation, but he silently does everything for her. Even when what he did is unknown to her, when the girl finds out about it, she will surely be moved.

Is there a scene in this drama that made a particularly strong impression on you?
The first kiss scene was very dramatic. She filmed in Shanghai, Xintiandi. It was Christmas then, and when the couple were kissing there, the sensor went off and the Christmas tree and the whole street were lit up at the same time. It was really romantic.

Feng Teng is always very cold-blooded. He is not inclined to inadvertently express his emotions in words, but he loves Shan Shan. What is the best way to see Feng Teng's love in his behavior towards the girl?
There are many different options here, but ... Still, I think the reason this drama became so popular is because it details the daily routine. There are no major experiences or joys, there are no such frequent events as accidents or betrayal, no one kills anyone, no one dies - nothing like that. It is similar to the line from this drama, "Our love is built on what we eat together," and I feel like this scene is similar to our real life.

You sang the ending theme song for "From Ship to Ball," and this time you sang the opening theme song. Would you like the audience to feel something in this song? With what emotions did you sing it?
When I was recording this song, I was overwhelmed with feelings. In this song, a man completely and unconditionally accepts his beloved girl. He also makes her a promise. When I sang this song, my voice was interrupted two or three times by the depth of my emotions. Perhaps also because I empathized with my own character, I became a little emotional; I wanted to cry.

For Japanese realities, an absolutely impossible moment - why was Feng Teng both outdoors and indoors in a coat all the time?
It actually has to do with what was behind the scenes, I confess (laughs). Since the sound was recorded immediately on the set, it was forbidden to use air conditioners (for heating) during filming. This was the case during the scenes at both Feng Teng's apartment and the old Shanghai family estate. In the coldest time, the temperature in the room dropped below zero, it also happened that steam came out of the mouth; therefore, when it was cold in warm clothes and sweaters, and even in a coat it was too chilly, although everything was happening indoors, I didn't want to take off my coat (laughs).

Did you expect the drama to have high viewership ratings? You have worked hard to achieve these results. Did they meet expectations or did they go beyond them?
All members of the film crew tried very hard to make a good piece. Nevertheless, we received a reaction that far exceeded expectations. During filming, we talked with the director if the content of this drama is too flat. There are no special difficulties, the characters of the characters also do not change. The dramas that have been popular lately have many ups and downs that capture the heart of the viewer. In fact, playing an even story is quite difficult. This calls into question the attractiveness of the hero's personality. And lovable characters attract viewers. We got a much better response than we expected and were very surprised.

Looking back again, what is the reason for this drama's success?
Probably, the fact is that this is a story about ordinary life, there is a feeling of closeness in it; probably, by this we won the sympathy of the female half of the audience. Plus, with this drama you can wake up your imagination to imagine what Feng Teng's daily life is like. Everyone just dreams of the perfect fairy tale.

Now you already have extensive experience of participating in various works. What type of work would you like to try your hand at in the future? If you had the opportunity to choose, what criteria and reasons for choosing would you use?
For a long time, I have chosen this way: I want to play a role that I have never played before. At the moment, I'm trying to do as many films as possible. I'm currently filming a comedy film in Hong Kong. For me this is the first such experience. Before that, I was filming a film about nostalgic youth in Inner China. This work is about confronting the experience of failures and failures after graduation from university and entering adulthood. The hero was originally a cheerful young man, but faced with the real world, he begins to lead a miserable existence, earning money for a living by musical performances on the streets of the "underground city" in Beijing. It was a very elaborate story. I would like to try to cope with a role full of action and drama.

A few words for your Japanese fans.
Hmmm ... For starters, I would like the Japanese viewers to recognize me through this drama. Since the characteristics of the actor himself are to some extent transmitted to his hero, I myself am inside Feng Teng. And after that, if you slowly spend a little time on this, you can understand myself.
