It is worth noting that there are holes for this wire fastening on opposite sides tail I don't understand the point of such duplication. Well, there is and there is, it doesn’t interfere with using it.

In general, with such dimensions it would be worth making a ring on the head for a full-fledged shoulder mount, which I have only seen on the Jacksman X6

The knurling on the tail, and its general shape just says “twist, turn me completely,” but, alas, there is no option to disassemble the battery pack.

There are no usual knurls like “pineapples” and “squares” with “diamonds”, just heels of longitudinal indentations. However, the grip is quite comfortable.

Inside the battery pack there are 8 (!) 18650 batteries, kind of like 30q, and that's all I can show you. It looks, of course, beautiful and neat. The photo also includes a transparent shipping gasket designed to isolate the spring from the contact pad.

From the side of the head there is a spring facing this contact area, although I expected to see some kind of convex penny here.

Here, in the GIF they are visible even better. And right there on the GIF you can clearly see the button and display. The button didn't look right to me. Finding it blindly is not easy, although it is hefty, about the size of a postage stamp. The stroke is shallow with a clear click. During operation, 2 blue lights next to the display light up to make the button easier to find.


On the reverse side there is a charging connector covered with a thick and rather deep rubber plug.

And here comes the dessert, behind the moderately toothy matte gray bezel there is a trypophobe’s nightmare, 8 stacked “honeycomb” XHP 70.2 diodes.


Here I took them from different angles, hoping that you will also see here the beauty that is visible to me. Initially, the glass (coated) is covered with transport film.















The appearance is futuristic and attractive. And in general, due to its dimensions, this club will still attract attention. I don’t see any flaws in the manufacturing, but here everything is glued together, so there’s no way to check what and how.

The only downside for me so far is the button. It will not be easy to search for it blindly, since the head is rich in fine relief, against the background of which the button does not stand out at all.

I see the screen as a potential weak point.

CONTROL

Simple.

Lock-unlock with a second hold, the lock icon lights up (see gif above). My firm opinion is that this is not enough to unlock it. It’s quite possible that the flashlight will be pressed somewhere for that second and there will be a multi-thousand-lumen heating of the backpack. 2, ideally 3 seconds is what you need. Or better yet, even more complicated like 2 seconds + 2 short clicks to unlock. The chances of producing such a combination in a backpack are negligible.

On with a click, off with a press of about a second.

Switch brightness with a click. The number corresponding to each brightness level will light up on the screen.

Turbo - press 2 times from any position, with another 2-fold press the strobe is launched, otherwise turbo won’t be enough for someone’s eyes.

Pressing it three times displays the voltage, which when fully charged is 16.8V.4

Mode memory - yes.

In general, except for the short blocking time, I am satisfied with everything.

FLASHLIGHT IN WORK.

The light, unsurprisingly, is cool white.
There is no PWM flicker in any mode.

A few notes:

1) During charging, the screen displays an indicator that everyone almost every day sees on their phone during the same process - a gradually filling 4-segment battery.
2) It, when empty, begins to blink when the voltage drops below 11V.
3) Charging takes something like 4-5 hours, I just can’t catch this moment. But, in general, quite quickly. At BLF, one of the forum members successfully charged a flashlight from a solar battery.
4) When the temperature exceeds 50 degrees, a triangle icon appears on the screen.
5) When the voltage drops below 11V, the empty battery icon starts blinking.

That’s probably all that comes to mind from the clarifications before I move on to the details.

So, a friend with BLF tested the light with cooling, without, and generally closing the ventilation holes - there is little difference up to 50 degrees. The difference between cooling and without it lies within about 5 degrees. see this and other useful charts.

My little experience shows that heat dissipation is good. The huge size certainly has a positive effect on cooling
The 5000 lumen mode is generally barely warm, about 30 degrees somewhere.
13,000 lumens is quite warm, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. The head gradually warms up to 50+ where the stepdown starts. The warm-up time depends on many variables, it is clear that in the summer indoors and in the winter outdoors everything will be radically different, to the point that in the latter case it may not occur at all (the graph showed that with good airflow the brightness remains at a relatively the same level up to before turning off).
32,000 lumes here, no matter how you look at it, the stepdown will be pretty fast. Again, external conditions also greatly influence the time of the onset of stepdown.

In the turbo, the handle doesn’t warm up to “ayyy!”, it’s quite possible to hold it with your hands, after all, after 50 degrees the brightness drops, so there’s no chance of your hands and the diode boiling.

As for brightness in general, in the same review the subject got somewhere around 25-26 kilolumens, which definitely lower than stated, but still a monstrously large amount and more than the closest competitor - Acebeam X80 (25 klyumens stated).
I am inclined to agree with this and here’s why: purely arithmetically, the brightness after stepdown (7 clumens) as a percentage relative to 25-26 and 32 clumens will be different. Somehow it turned out that my light meter started at 25 kilos and then dropped exactly to 6-7 - very clearly. Well, I hope you understand what I mean. If not, in short, the brightness in the turbo is lower than stated, but still just crazy.

What to say…

1) Horseradish is here, not 3 hours at mid high. I tested it three times - everything was the same. I checked the author's review at the link above - similar, yes, an hour. I checked - 13 volts on the bank, i.e. There is a reserve and in theory it should be possible to start at least in the low-mid. But no, bite it. And this is not the usual 15-20% discrepancy with the stated figures, here the difference is a third. This is a jamb.

It is clear that this is a lot, but less than promised.

2) Forced cooling played a role and at high the flashlight did not fall into stepdown, illuminating brightly, but for less time.

Well, here is the hero of the review, and let them be taken to the heap for comparison. L6 here does not compare too well with others, but from what is familiar to readers, it is clearly a logical choice due to its high prevalence. I tried to give as many examples as possible, because I think this part of the review is more interesting than all the others. For convenience, I labeled the GIFs with the stated brightness levels, I think it’s simpler and more visual.

Photos are photos, but the video also has something to see, you can immediately scroll to the end of the review, at the beginning it will be the same as in the text, I won’t say anything new there.

GENERAL IMPRESSIONS

This is the extreme development of a flashlight, both in size and brightness. If the dimensions and weight do not bother you, then at least for the night you will completely forget about the darkness. I don’t know how appropriate it will be there for fishing and hunting, alas, it’s far from it. I think that the flashlight will perform well in the security and inspection of large areas, such as some kind of estate of a humble servant of the people (they obviously won’t give it to a parking lot security guard). And it’s clear that, unlike the meteor, MT03 or Olight X7R, you can’t just put it in your pocket.

Well, naturally, this is a great example of a “wow” gift. Even if the DX80 does not find any practical use, no one will remain indifferent. But there are situations when it is absolutely unclear what to give to a person who can already afford everything. This is where this flashlight can be a good choice.

As for the price, with a coupon it is quite at the level of much less bright solutions; the same TM series is now considerably more expensive, for example, under 500 bucks without a coupon. Although, it is clear that even with a coupon it extremely limits the circle of buyers. For those who are looking for something, albeit less, but still very bright on a much smaller budget, I recommend paying attention to, which you can get with a coupon for about 77-80 bucks.

In my case, so far the practical use of the DX80 has come down to curbing the desire that has been gnawing at me for a long time to have the brightest flashlight possible, that’s all, I won’t engage in self-deception here. Lanterns are a subject of my interest and purquois, as they say, pa. Oh, yes, I was hoping to cook scrambled eggs on it - it didn’t work out, perhaps if I had held a flashlight from above to an egg broken into a frying pan, the white would have curled, but shining from below, nothing came of it. It's a pity, it would have been a great addition to the review.

Good:
In turbo, the DX80 puts out an insane, insane amount of light, even after stepdown it is exceptionally bright, on par with the turbo of other powerful flashlights.

The light pattern is good and on steam junior levels Convenient as a portable device, at higher levels it is quite capable of penetrating very far due to its extreme brightness with the bonus of wide illumination.

Doubtful:
In real use, I think that I will have to put a strap on my shoulder, carry 1kg+ at arm's length

It would be nice to make it possible to charge via USB, but in the field/car it will be more problematic (although, as I wrote above, there is information about successful charging from a solar battery)

The ability to change dead batteries would definitely be preferable. It is clear that the manufacturer wanted to protect itself from users shoving different cans, and carrying a set of 8 spare cans with you is still a pleasure. But still…
