45 days have passed since the start of the work of the MPGU admissions committee. This year the number of applicants has increased compared to last year.
Institute foreign languages ranks first in the number of accepted applications. The team of this Institute accepted about 12 thousand applicants!
The Institute of Journalism, Communications and Media Education, founded this year, accepted 3,172 applications for undergraduate and graduate programs as of June 29 this year. Of these, 777 applicants took part in the creative exam in journalism. The increase in the flow of applicants to the Institute of Journalism, Communications and Media Education this year is due to the fact that, although it is young, it is already actively gaining momentum. Student journalists have some advantages: they go to events that interest them, for which they prepare material, and try themselves on radio, print, and television. The doors of famous news agencies are open to them. “First-year students even have the opportunity to do an internship at TASS,” a student at the institute shared with us.

I sent the documents by mail to Moscow State Pedagogical University, hoping to see myself on the list of applicants, but no. At about 12 o'clock at night, the answering machine called me and said that I had a shortage of documents, although everything was fine with documents at other universities (the set was the same everywhere), the next day I wrote to the admissions office, but after 2 WEEKS they still didn’t answer me . To be honest, I'm outraged. Not only did they call at night, but they also didn’t answer.

About MPGU
Moscow Pedagogical State University - main pedagogical university Russia *, founded in 1872, when the Moscow Higher Women's Courses were founded. Today MPGU is a multidisciplinary university with more than 26 thousand students. The University includes 10 Institutes and 15 faculties in all areas - from physics to music. The new educational programs of Moscow State University are based on ideas and approaches that different years it was founded by professors - psychologist and teacher Lev Vygotsky, the founder of the doctrine of the biosphere Vladimir Vernadsky, historians Vasily Klyuchevsky and Ivan Tsvetaev, philosopher Alexei Losev, Nobel laureate in physics Igor Tamm, geographer Otto Schmidt.
The University's development concept is based on research in the field of cognitive science, the idea of mathematics as a universal learning skill, the active use of the information environment and the real educational practice of students of all directions starting from the first year.
The university is actively research activities in various fields of science, including physics, cognitive science, neurobiology, sociology, political science and much more. The range of research that is being carried out today at Moscow State Pedagogical University is extremely wide - from nanotechnology and quantum physics to the mechanisms of development of Parkinson's disease and cultural transformations in modern Europe. MSGU students and graduate students have taken part and are currently working in such international projects as the largest Russian space telescope "Millimetron", the European space observatories "Herschel" and "Planck", the German-American stratospheric telescope "Sofia", high-altitude heterodyne astronomy projects observatory of Harvard University on the Atacama plateau in Chile and others.
Cultural heritage sites at Moscow State Pedagogical University
Over the years of its active work, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation D. A. Medvedev dated February 2, 2009, MPGU was included in the list of cultural heritage sites of Russia. This indicates not only recognition of the university’s services to society, but also the important role it currently plays in the system of higher professional education.
Particularly notable among the cultural heritage of the university is its Main Building, which in 2013 celebrated the 100th anniversary of its creation. It was designed by S. U. Solovyov, an academician of architecture and a member of the Academy of Arts, for which he was awarded a silver medal. The building was made in the style of Russian classicism of the 18th century, but its construction and layout fully met all the requirements of the 20th century. The interior decoration of the building, in turn, was the work of engineer V. G. Shukhov, who designed columns, beams, a huge lobby hall and much more. The unique architecture of the building attracted the attention of Russian cinematographers, who filmed their films here - “Under the Sign of Scorpio”, “Carnival”, “The Most Beautiful” and many others. And in the foyer of the building and in its 9 classrooms, to this day, meetings of students with famous musicians, politicians, professors and Nobel laureates take place.
The Moscow State University Observatory was opened in 1904 and is also a cultural heritage. Now there is an AVR-2 telescope installed here, which is used by students of the faculty information technologies and physicists to observe the stars.
The university library contains more than 2 million volumes of a wide variety of books that may be of interest to university students. But in addition, there are about 40 thousand books here that are of exceptional value - A. S. Griboyedov “Woe from Wit” (first edition), A. S. Pushkin - lifetime editions, M. Smotritsky “Slavic Grammar” (1648 publications) and many others. At the moment, the library has received the status of the largest library in the country.
TO cultural heritage university can also be classified as:
- a herbarium containing 110 thousand dried plants;
- geological and mineralogical collection, which is constantly replenished by expeditions of university teachers and students;
- the collection of the Department of Zoology and Ecology, which contains about 1000 stuffed animals from all over the world;
- a collection of works of Russian and foreign art, which features paintings by the best Russian artists and majestic bronze sculptures;
- a physical demonstration room that houses physical instruments that are over 100 years old.
In many universities in the country, mid-July is the time for entrance exams. Executive Secretary of the Admissions Committee of Moscow State Pedagogical University, Olga Yurievna Knyazeva, spoke about the organization of admission and creative tests.
- Creative competitions have already been held at some faculties. What preliminary results can you draw?
As always, creative exams revealed a large number of talented children and children who do not reach the level of our university. However, not all results have been published yet. First, we must show the work to applicants and make sure that there are no appeals. And only then can we talk about the results.
In many universities entrance exams pass in one day. Students are not keeping up. Therefore, for example, the creative exam in journalism came less people than what was stated in the lists. Why is this happening?
Time before enrollment is limited at all universities. We must complete our exams within the designated period. And therefore, we cannot part ways with all the universities in the country, which are also finishing accepting documents.
But if a person does not come for the exam and he has a medical certificate, we reschedule the exam, we have a reserve day.
I think that not only because of the coincidence of exams, not all applicants who submitted documents come to the entrance examinations. Also because the child has the opportunity to apply to five universities. Already at the first stage, he makes a choice in favor of some priorities. For example, we only have 10 budget places, obviously the applicant assessed his situation and saw that according to the Unified State Examination he was somewhere at the end of the list. Therefore, he will probably go to the university where there are more budget places.
- How has the number of applicants changed this year?
The number of applicants has increased. This is due, firstly, to the fact that journalism at Moscow State Pedagogical University has become a separate Institute, which, of course, is attractive for applicants and students. Secondly, the number of applicants depends on the quality of education, if it is at high level, then people will want to come to the university. At our university they prepare according to good professional disciplines, we are constantly improving both master's and bachelor's programs.
Applicants are wondering, due to the increase in the number of students, whether the quality of education will deteriorate?
Firstly, not everyone will do so - this is understandable. Secondly, the course is divided into two forms of training: full-time and part-time. As a result, a maximum of five groups will remain in full-time. Of course, the level of education will not become worse, because each group will have its own teachers.
